About the Project Racism and Childhoods: Impacts, Challenges, and Perspectives in Paraíba Education (FAPESQ/CNPq/2021-2024).

Project developed with financial support from Call No. 010/2021 - FAPESQ/PB - MCTIC/CNPq – Infrastructure Program for Young Researchers/First Projects Program – PPP. Grant term number: 3195/2021.

The research project is part of the broader context of an ongoing investigation into teacher training in accordance with Federal Law 10.639/03, which made it mandatory to teach Afro-Brazilian culture and history in both public and private networks in the country. With the aim of accompanying the reflections prompted by the promulgation of the Law and the strategies mobilized for its implementation, as well as supporting the debate on Ethnic-Racial Relations Education (ERER), the initial step is to conduct a survey of scientific production related to racism and ERER, particularly focused on childhoods, in order to characterize the body of work developed on these themes in the field of Education, taking as a temporal criterion the production in Postgraduate Programs in Education based in the state of Paraíba in the last twenty years (2000-2020). The analysis of the work outlines: a) the conceptual understanding of childhoods linked to the ethnic-racial debate; b) references and theoretical frameworks present in defended Theses and Dissertations; c) identification of collaboration networks between institutions and researchers, with special attention to interactions in the Northeast region. Based on the quantitative balance and the tables prepared, the challenges to be faced in teacher training and in the development of anti-racist educational practices aimed at Paraíba childhoods are discussed, in order to build references for the approach to ethnic-racial themes in Early Childhood Education, as well as to provide subsidies for the consolidation of the field of Ethnic-Racial Relations Education in Brazil.
