ABOUT THE INTERDISCIPLINARY NETWORK OF STUDIES ON VIOLENCE - RIEV
The Interdisciplinary Network of Studies on Violence - RIEV - is coordinated at the Federal University of Paraíba by Prof. Edna Gusmão de Góes Brennand - PPGE / PPGOA / UFPB, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina by Prof. Delamar José Volpato Dutra - PPGFIL / PPGICH / UFSC, and at the University of Valencia, Spain, by Profs. Francesc J. Hernàndez and Benno Herzog.
RIEV has researchers, doctoral students, and master's students from the mentioned programs and has been conducting interdisciplinary research on violence since 2017, with an emphasis on perpetrators of human rights violations, in national and international contexts.
The complex social context of today brings with it the crisis of democracies that takes on various forms, depending on the circumstances in which they are situated, such as fundamentalisms, polarization of ideologies, restriction of rights, violations of fundamental rights, restriction of freedoms, political crises, ethical and moral crises, premature death, hunger, misery, and increasing violence in all its nuances.
